2007 Yield Tour Has Finished! We have estimated the 2007 corn crop at 13.176 billion bushels, soybeans at 2.580 billion bushels!
Scouts have finally come "home" from the fields after spending the last three weeks on the road, providing our clientele with an exclusive, insightful look into the 2007 Corn/Soybean crop! The Yield Tour has largely confirmed many of the findings of the Pictoral Tour with only a few surprises. We have estimated the 2007 corn yield at 154.3 bu/acre, resulting in a total production of 13.176 bil bushels. 2007 soybeans were revised downward, with the new figure pegged at 40.78 bu/acre and production of 2.580 bil bushels.
Our findings have been summarized and posted in the "Analysis" page. Every field sample taken has been posted on our web site, along with projected yield and additional commentary. If you disagree with our estimate, feel free to browse our pictures and come up with your own conclusions - only at CropScout.com!
2007 Pictoral Crop Tour has Concluded!
On July 16th, Scouts departed from CropScout Headquarters to kick off the year's first tour. The scouts, without question, exceeded our wildest expectations - they have acquired over 5,000 images from 12 states and 59 total USDA crop districts. In total, over 550 locations were reviewed and catalogued for your consideration. We invite you to check these images out - and more, on the new CropScout.com!
2006 Results - Compare 2007 Yields with 2006 Estimates
On October 3rd Crop Scout, in conjunction with The Linn Group, estimated the US Corn Crop yield at 153.61 bushels per acre. ONLY .1 bpa off the actual USDA estimate released on October 12th! You can review our official 2006 Crop Scout Estimate (PDF) or the recap with USDA numbers included (PDF).
Overview
The CropScout website is designed to assist producers in their quest to monitor crop development and analyze summer growing conditions. Armed with satellite weather maps, USDA condition reports, and CropScout Production and Development statistics from the last ten years, scouts analyze corn and soybean crop potential through consistent systematic measurements and comparisons to previous years statistics. The CropScout production estimates will be based on scouts ear count-pollination-ear length and mass measurements from the top 15 producing states after careful analysis of satellite moisture and heat comparison data, and after factoring in normal September/October growing and maturing weather patterns.
Crop pictures and audio comments will be updated throughout the trip. Any pictures not taken by official representatives of CropScout will be labeled as such on this site along with location and date.
We appreciate your interest and your input.
